Columbia River Knife and Tool M16-10KZ 3-Inch Black Folding Knife for sale
The M16-10KZ is definitely an smartly designed knife. I carry a cold steel ti-lite 6" most of the time, however , if I'd like something smaller plus much more innocuous I carry this knife.
BLADE: The AUS 4 stainless blade includes a combo edge, half straight, half serrated, along with a tanto point. I am a big fan of tantos, a lot of penetrating power and stronger over a clip point. It holds a good sharp edge well, though quite a bit less well since its larger AUS 8 counterparts like the M16-14SF(Columbia River Knife and Tool's M16-14SF Big Dog Aluminum Tanto Blade Combo Edge Knife). When searching for a greater blade for heavier jobs, I'd recommend the 14SF. The 10KZ, however, is an excellent tool to own within your back pocket for every single day jobs. The thumb stud within this knife is poorly found in my opinion - it's difficult to get enough leverage to open the knife - however this is of little consequence because of the excellent carson flipper for the back. The flipper put in at home to work with, has a smooth action, and provides for lightning fast, switchblade-like opening. It also doubles like a finger guard if your knife is open, definitely one of the greatest design features with this folder.
LOCK: This knife features CRKT's AutoLAWKS locking mechinism, that's an extra lever that prevents the liner lock from being accidentally closed. A number of people dislike this feature, saying it makes a person-handed closing of the knife difficult, but after a little practice I've had no worries by it, closing it really as easily as any regular liner lock. The AutoLAWKS provides extra safety and I see it being a plus. It's tight and opens having a satisfying click. There's no play whatsoever. The middle pivot screw is definitely adjustable with a flathead screwdriver.
HANDLE: The handle shape can be quite smartly designed, fitting comfortably even just in larger hands like mine despite the knife being rather small. The Zytel scales are nicely textured, preventing slippage when wet. It is also tough material - this doesn't happen dent or crack easily, and is close to impervious to water, salt, etc.
CLIP: The only real part I wouldn't like with this knife is the clip. It's strong plus it functions well, but it is positioned for tip-down carry, meaning you have to turn the knife over after removing it from a pocket before opening it - inconvenient.
Overall, this knife provides extensive great features i love - the tanto point, the carson flipper, the AutoLAWKS, and also the excellent handle. I highly recommend it to anyone buying tough, lightweight blade for every single day use
