Gerber 31-000749 Bear Grylls Survival Series Ultimate Multi-Tool With Nylon Sheath for sale
The one other multi-tool I've owned is definitely an SOG Specialty Knives & Tools S61-N EOD PowerLock. While I favor my PowerLock, I desired something that was lighter, smaller, plus more convenient, and this also has a great balance. It's no more than an ounce lighter compared to the SOG, however it is nearly an inch shorter, so that it is easier to wear. More importantly, having all of the tools accessible on the outside of is more convenient than the PowerLock. Have a locking mechanism, i look at a necessity, but it is one area the location where the Gerber comes short. Unlike the PowerLock's gentle but effective lever and flat spring, the Gerber incorporates a sliding lock that has a compression volute spring. It's stiff which enables it to rub your fingers raw with overuse, i worry about how well it is going to endure as we grow old. While the Gerber doesn't have the stove of tools from the PowerLock, and also hold the biggest ones. The flat Phillips head screwdriver doesn't look impressive, but it is worked when I needed it. I haven't tried the combined tin opener/bottle opener yet, that is the other one I think looks iffy.

Others have remarked that this really is comparable to the Gerber Suspension Butterfly. There's a minimum of one difference, in this it possesses a great rubberized grip rather than the open one of many other Gerber tool, i consider a noticable difference. It could have better weatherization, as other reviewers have remarked that it seems less susceptible to rusting than other Gerber tools, but that is anecdotal, therefore i are not absolutely clear on this. Whatever the case, the value was lower after i purchased it, therefore the cost differential was considerably less. It's a good tool, overall, and I've found it worth the price.
