Leatherman Skeletool CX Multi-Tool - Stainless Box for sale
I purchased this multi-tool once i got tired of always asking someone else for the knife/Gerber/leatherman. It's lasted three military exercises and also a deployment to Afghanistan doing all sorts of random things.
I picked the skeletool since it was LIGHT.
Why?
As the tool you do not mind bringing to you everywhere would be the one you will employ probably the most.
I have seen a good amount of colleagues with enormous multitools and 20+ function devices. Why don't you consider a knife, screwdriver, pliers, and wire cutter? Plus a built-in carabeener/bottle opener allows it to hang on my rigger's belt buckle where we have easy 1-hand access without getting into the way of my hip belt or coat of mail.
That i used to get riffing through the guys while using more complicated multi-tools. But a funny thing started happening. Everyone started borrowing MY Leatherman. Those huge multi-tools have left both at home and in someone's pack, not at their side after they require it by far the most.
I've used every function with this device, including the bottle opener the morning I obtained back from deployment. I could calculate one hand many times I couldn't take advantage of this to complete the job, and all of days past wound up requiring a fanatical tool for the position- it wouldn't are making a change what number of more functions there have been on it.
Only complaints are classified as the bits are really easy to wander away because i really enjoy seeing the part holder gets sort of loose. It's fine if it is closed but if you're messing with something you can lose. You can order bit replacement kits from Leatherman for a couple dollars but it sucks to shed it during nowhere.
Also, the drilled holes from the device that will help save crucial weight is really a magnet for dust and dirt. I never a problem with it functioning i never oiled it, nonetheless it accumulates dirt much faster than when it were in a very case.
Still with those cons this may Be my only multi-tool. Recently i received a Leatherman ALX to be a present. They weigh nearly double the amount of as the skeletool and i also can't even discover a few things i would do wonderful those extra functions. It's getting re-gifted.
