Legendary Russian gun designer Mikhail Kalashnikov come up with AK-47 assault rifle in 1947. Adopted with the Red Army in 1949, the rifle earned a reputation as being the "people's rifle." The Cold Steel Mini AK-47 heavy-duty tactical knife pays tribute on the famed assault weapon, that has a similarly rugged, economical, easy-to-operate design.
Created by knife designer Andrew Demko, the Mini AK-47 knife is created for hard and rugged use, that has a hollow-ground 2-3/4-inch blade that's honed manually until it reaches stages of sharpness usually seen on the surgeon's scalpel. The blade is constructed out of Japanese AUS 8A steel, that's vacuum-heat-treated and sub-zero-quenched for maximum toughness. The blade's black Teflon coating, meanwhile, boosts corrosion resistance, enhances cutting power, and improves edge retention.
The blade is backed up by Cold Steel's state-of-the-art Tri-Ad lock, which has been tested to resist shock induced by blows about the spine or higher-strike that lands within the handle. The Mini AK-47 supplements the blade toughness having a rugged, rigid, and incomparably strong G-10 handle. Finally, the Mini AK-47 comes with a ambidextrous pocket clip and patented thumb plate. The thumb plate has a dual purpose: It means that you can draw and quickly open the knife by snagging it around the edge of a pocket, or maybe you may use it just like a conventional thumb stud or disc for simple one-handed opening.
